Real travel requires a maximum of unscheduled wandering, for there is no other way of discovering surprises and marvels, which, as I see it, is the only good reason for not staying at home.

Alan Watts

Of two flying travelers ...

Once upon a time, not so long ago, there were two people who no longer wanted to stay on the ground... literally. So they took to the skies. There they met each other, became entangled and realised how much bigger the world can become when you are carried by the wind. Once in the air, they wanted more and more of it. They decided to say goodbye to their previous lifes and went on to travel the world together - flying, but without getting on a plane.

The overland route is of course also part of this decision. A reliable companion, who should not only secure the transport, but also the future home of the two, was chosen: Fredy, a Fiat Ducato from 1992. He was tinkered with, repaired and expanded. After all, everything has to have its space. This includes the paragliders as well as a kitchen, a bed, a refrigerator and all the other little things that tend to be forgotten.

Neither of them is a professional. "Learning by doing" is the motto ... and "do it yourself" ... and "be spontaneous and maximally flexible", depending on what suits best.

The license for the car is international, as is that for the paraglider. Nothing stands in the way of the two from exploring the world.

But where is the way?

In fairness, nobody really knows. The basic idea is: to the east. But the start is scheduled for November, because the east is rather cold. So first there is a little detour to the south.

The only thing that really counts is getting up again
The day the decision was made (thanks to two fortune cookies)

The following is important for both of them when deciding which route to take:

  • Combine driving and flying
  • all by land (ferries are the exception)
  • get to know new people and their cultures
  • open borders
  • Following the sun

Everything will probably turn out differently than they could even dream of it. But they know that, and that is exactly what makes it so exciting. So they try to set off without any expectations. It remains to be seen where this will lead them and how long they will pursue this way.
